Course Description: This course discusses the body as a whole, and ways to help clients with problems and problematic issues that may crop up in their daily lives. From sinus headaches and migraines to toe cramps, the course not only presents common problems that therapists may encounter, but offers routines and other self-help strategies that are easily incorporated into what therapists already do. Also included is a section regarding cupping and the different type of cupping techniques used in modern practices.Informed clients are an integral part of the healing process; this course presents suggestions for therapists to actively involve clients in the treatment plan. No matter what the therapist skill level, there is something useful for everybody.
Goal: Students will be able to discuss the human body as a whole and describe routines and other bodywork strategies to improve the overall treatment plans for both therapist and client.
Objectives:The student will be able to master the following objectives with a minimum of 70% accuracy:Students will be able to discuss the elements of the Holistic Approach.Students will be able to differentiate between Complementary and Alternative Medicine.Students will be able to define Integrative Medicine.Students will be able to describe the Homeodynamic Model and its componentsStudents will be able to demonstrate proper questioning and answering techniques.Students will be able to identify specific muscles in:The head and neckThe shoulder and upper armsForearms, wrists, and handsThe upper and mid-backThe stomach and abdomenThe low backThe upper and lower legsThe kneesThe ankles and feetStudents will be able to list contraindications to massage in each problem or issue of the body, if there are any.Students will be able to describe common issues in the major muscles of the whole body.Students will be able to discuss routines and their outcomes for specific muscular issues in the body.
