      Course Description: Most massage therapists have forgotten more about laws and rules and standards than most people will ever know. Even with that being the case, this course is meant to refresh what you already know and give you some helpful tips that you might not know. This course is based primarily on NCBTMB Standards.

      Goal: To expose massage therapists to several techniques that will extend and enhance their careers, from basic laws and regulations to client relationships and tools that can be used by the therapist.

    • Course Objectives

      Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to master the following objectives with a minimum of 70% accuracy:

      Define basic terms associated with massage therapy

      Compare and contrast the pros and cons of appropriate places to practice

      Discuss the steps for finding an appropriate place to practice

      Explain the pros and cons of going into business with a partner

      Differentiate between renting and leasing

      List the appropriate steps to take when opening an establishment

      List the grounds for disciplinary action

      List actions that are illegal in massage therapy

      Explain what sexual misconduct is and how to avoid it

      Describe the differences in insurance

      Explain what HIPAA is and its impact on the massage profession

      List the elements that should be included in intake paperwork

      List the modalities that are covered in most massage schools

      Describe the various tools that can be used to extend endurance

      Describe things that can be done to minimize therapists’ pain

      Define Malan’s Helping Profession Syndrome

      Define psychology terms that are common to massage therapy

      Explain the appropriate steps to take, should you want to become involved with a client or vice-versa

      You will then be able to access your course under ‘1-Course Study Material’.

      Once ready to take the online exam, you will click '2- Take Exam’. Then click ‘Start’ next to your exam name.

      If you pass, you will see your certificate immediately.

      You have one year from purchase date to complete your exam(s). If you come close to the expiration date and need longer, you can purchase an extension of time of 6 months. You can purchase this within your account or by giving us a call.

      ---FL and GA Licensed Massage Therapists- We submit credits at least once a week to CEBROKER.

      ---Louisiana Licensed Massage Therapists- We submit credit at least once a week to your Board for approved courses. Any courses taken that are not approved by LA will not be submitted. For a list of approved courses please go to our Louisiana page at The link to our states page is on the bottom of this site.

      ---Be sure to check your state and national organizations for information about renewal.

      ---For all states, you should search specifically for courses that you know are accepted for your state. This includes, but not limited to New York, North Dakota, Louisiana and Texas.
