      Course Description: This 14 hour course looks at the arm from the shoulder all the way down to the fingertips from a massage therapist’s point of view. This area is often overlooked in favor of the neck and back, but good arm workers are sought out by people in all walks of life. This course is descriptive and easy to understand, and it includes little additions that can be easily incorporated into any routine. A great course for any therapist!

      Goal: To inform massage therapists about the components of the arm, its anatomy, and its functions, as well as injuries, ailments, and possible routines to enhance and promote healing.

    • Course Objectives

      Objectives:

      Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to master the following objectives with a minimum of 70% accuracy:

      The student will be able to:

      Identify the parts of the arm

      Differentiate between the upper and lower arm

      List the parts of the shoulder

      Define the rotator cuff

      List the parts of the scapula

      Define the humerus and its functions

      Describe the parts of the elbow

      List the parts of the radius and ulna

      Identify the nerves and their functions on the arm

      List the function of the arm muscles

      Identify the bones of the wrist

      List the names and functions of the hand muscles

      List the names and functions of the hand bones

      List the names and functions of the hand tendons/ligaments

      Describe the massage indications and contraindications for specific arm injuries

      ---Be sure to check your state and national organizations for information about renewal.
